The more research I do on invasive species the more I think they’re mostly just. A convenient visible thing for ppl to ATTACK as a THREAT to native biodiversity, because “climate change” can’t be ripped out with your hands, and ripping “habitat loss” out with your hands looks dangerously revolutionary.

everyone KNOWS grey squirrels were introduced to ireland in 1911 by Mr. Forbes/Earl of Granard who was gifted 6 pairs of grey squirrels by the Duke of Buckinghamshire. Everyone KNOWS Mr Forbes released the squirrels in Castleforbes and everyone KNOWS that the ravening grey beasts decimated the native red squirrel population from then on. Invasive species bad, outcompetes with native population. Kill all greys.

But! Red squirrels were introduced too. It SEEMS like red squirrels went extinct in the 1600 – b/c of the fur trade & the rapid deforestation of Ireland to build british ships. Red squirrels were then introduced BACK by British Lords who thought they were neat.

In fact, red squirrels were introduced to Castleforbes like 80 years before the greys. And they didn’t thrive! because there wasn’t enough tree cover! Grey squirrels are much happier spending time on the ground.

But sure. Invasive species are the problem.

oh did you? You asked something that steals shit to lie to you about a subject? And you just tell me this like I care to know what it said? Like I wanted to know its opinion? I regularly ask my cat Cheesey Gordita Crunch about many subjects and I think I trust his judgement more than whatever bullshit ur shitty algorithm spat out

I asked catCGC about the issues and I think his input is valuable here he says ‘weh’

pls thank him <3
